A 45-min to 1-hr plane ride from Manila, a boat ride, and possibly a quick tricycle ride will get you to the Island of Boracay. However complicated that may sound, it is well worth the trip! boracay Boracay Island

Getting There
The quickest way to get to Boracay is by plane and there are a few to choose from. Below are the smaller aircrafts which flies directly from Manila to Caticlan (approximately $150) and which will take only an hour. After-which, you will need to take a motor boat to get to the island.
     Asian Spirit
     Southeast Asian Airlines
An alternative is to take the plane to the nearest major provincial airport (Kalibo, Aklan), and go by car to Caticlan, and finally by motor boat to Boracay. While this route might be a tad cheaper, it is only more sensible if you prefer larger aircrafts, and if you want to visit parts of Aklan, otherwise it is more convenient and time-efficient to fly directly to Caticlan.
     Philippine Airlines
     Cebu Pacific Airlines
If you are booked at one of the larger resorts, the boat transfer is typically included with your package, and most likely will be dropped off in front of your resort. If not, you can hire a ferry boat to take you for $10 or get on the public boats that runs every 15-30 minutes for .30 cents. Public boats will take you to to any of the three boat stations across the 4-km beach-front stretch, and from there you will have to take a tricycle for $1 which runs on the major local road behind most beach-front resorts. Ask the boat men which station you should get off given the resort you are staying in.

Resorts
Our favorite is within boat stations 2 and 3 where the beach is wider, and less crowded.  You can find luxury resorts like Seawind, and Fridays for $150 average on high season, although it can certainly go pricier on some others.  Less luxurious ones like the Blue Lilly will cost $80 during peak, and $60 during high seasons.  Most resorts are priced accordingly as follows:  peak, high and low.  February is considered “high season.”
Activities
There are so many things to do!  We like to go snorkeling and take the island tour,  ride the local sailboat to watch the sun set, walk along the beach and stop for happy hour on our way to dinner, call on the bars and crawl our way home at 3:00 in the morning.  Of course we would also love to explore the island on a motorbike and perhaps go scuba diving and para sailing but on such a vacation, we opt to just kick back and relax.  However, whatever you look for in your vacation, you are bound to find it in boracay.
Other Places of Interests
We have not been to many places around the Philippines but we hear that Palawan, Pearl Farm in Davao, and Cebu are just as interesting as Boracay.  We only managed to write about Palawan.
